Phillip Schofield heaps praise on ‘amazing’ wedding as Ant McPartlin ties the knot


This Morning’s Phil was among the many stars of daytime TV who attended the happy event, as Ant married his former PA in a “laughter-filled” ceremony

Phillip Schofield attends Ant McPartlin’s wedding to Anne-Marie Corbett

Proud Ant McPartlin started a new double act today – and married his former PA in a “laughter-filled” star-studded church wedding.

The I’m a Celebrity and Britain’s Got Talent star, 45 – one half of ITV duo Ant and Dec – tied the knot with Anne-Marie Corbett, 43 in front of nearly 100 loved ones and celebrity guests

Declan Donnelly, Ant’s on-screen partner and pal of 32 years, was best man. His wife, Ali Astall helped with the bridesmaids.

The do – described as “the showbiz wedding of the year” – was awash with fellow telly presenters, including Cat Deeley and her comedian husband Patrick Kielty, Christine Lampard and her footie ace husband Frank, Alesha Dixon, Andi Peters and Ant and Dec’s old I’m A Celebrity buddy Dermot O’Leary.

Bride Anne-Marie looked radiant as she stepped out of a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce in her flowing white wedding gown, by top British designer Suzanne Neville.

She was led into church by her two bridesmaids and teenage girls, Daisy and Poppy.

Guests wiped away tears when Poppy read a touching excerpt from Richard Bach’s romantic novel The Bridge Across The River.

But they all had a giggle when Britain’s Got more Talent host Stephen Mulhern performed a mini-comedy routine, poking fun at Ant and Dec.

At the end of the service, the congregation cheered loudly before showering the bride and groom in confetti.

This morning host Phillip Schofield told the Sunday Mirror: “It was amazing. It was really fun, really nice, warm and cheerful. I really enjoyed it.”

BGT judge David Walliams, who attended with his ex-wife and former glamour model Keeley Hazell, added: “It was very romantic… They have a great sense of humour so there were a few laughs.”

Dozens of fans gathered outside St Michael church, in Heckfield, Hants, to congratulate Ant and his new wife.

The happy couple posed for pictures under a purple and pink flower arch before kissing for the cameras.

The delighted groom also fist-pumped the air and blew a kiss to fans.

The newlyweds and guests were then whisked away to a £100,000 reception at Heckfield Place hotel, where the bar served cocktails costing up to £250 each.

Guests ate a menu created by top Michelin star chef Skye Gyngell and were due to party on until 1am this morning.

Anne-Marie, said ‘yes’ after Ant proposed on Christmas Eve. The wedding ring he gave her yesterday matched the with an engagement ring he designed himself.

The pair worked together for years but became an item in 2018, just months after Ant revealed he and make-up artist wife Lisa Armstrong were getting divorced.

Their 23-year relationship ended in 2017 after Ant said he had become addicted to alcohol and prescription drugs following a botched knee op.

In 2018 the troubled star was arrested for drink-driving after crashing into two cars in Richmond, south-west London. He admitted the offence and was fined £86,000 and banned for 20 months.

Ant went into rehab and took a year-long break from TV. But in January 2019, days before his return to the screen, he said Anne-Marie helped him beat his drink addiction – and saved his life.

He added: “She is the most wonderful true woman. And the way we are and when people see us together they’ll see how honest and kind and happy we make each other.”

Tonight he posted an official wedding photo on the Ant & Dec Instagram account, with the caption: “Mr and Mrs McPartlin!!”.
